Welcome to Supervision with Sarah
I provide one-on-one supervision for newer dietitians trying to find their footing in their counseling career. Being a new dietitian can be A LOT; I've been there. I'm here to help you build your confidence by providing guidance, common humanity, and humor along the way.
About me
I've been an outpatient dietitian since 2016. My favorite part about counseling is being trusted to take an inside look at others lives, feelings, and self-care and figuring out how to help my clients feel more peaceful and present in their relationships with food and their bodies.
I clearly remember the anxiety and imposter syndrome that took over my first few years of counseling. Since then, I have become a mentor to other dietitians at the private practice I work at and a counseling preceptor for the University of Rhode Island's dietetic interns. My experience as both a supervisee and supervisor has unlocked a passion for helping other dietitians in their journey of helping others.
Outside of work, you can find me making lattes, playing cozy video games, walking in the woods, tidying up my space, and bothering my cat and husband.
We’ll be a good fit if…
You’re newer to the field of outpatient counseling
You’re looking for support from a seasoned dietitian
You want to reflect on your client experiences in a safe, non-judgmental setting
You want to learn more about providing weight-inclusive care
You want to decrease imposter syndrome, people pleasing, and perfectionism at work
You want concrete guidance on how to best help your nutrition clients using motivational interviewing
You find that you often second guess or overthink what you're doing with clients
You want to strengthen your counseling skills
You want support navigating complicated cases
What is supervision?
Supervision is crucial to prevent burnout and increase confidence and joy as a nutrition counselor.
My definition of supervision is: an opportunity to process and focus on your feelings after taking care of clients and their feelings.
Our sessions will be 60 minutes and held via Zoom. We can determine what frequency will feel best for you. Examples of what we can work through include difficult client cases, work/life balance, strong emotions that came up during a session, or a counseling skill you want to strengthen.
What is case consultation?
This is the option for you if you are looking for short term help with a specific client that is feeling especially tricky. This can be any type of client - GI, eating disorder, pediatric, weight concern, etc. We will talk through what is feeling hard and come up with a specific action plan to best help your client.
